Co-amoxiclav Tablets BP/ Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate Oral Suspension BP

CATEGORY

Beta-lactam antibacterial penicillin with a beta-lactamase inhibitor.

COMPOSITION

Lyclav 375 mg

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 250mg.
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 125mg.
Lyclav 562.5 mg

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 500mg
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 62.5mg

Lyclav 625 mg

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 500mg.
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 125mg.

Lyclav 1000 mg

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 875mg.
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 125mg.

Lyclav 1125 mg

Each film-coated tablet contains:

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 1000mg.
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 125mg.

Lyclav 228.5 mg/312.5mg/156.25 mg/457 mg 

When constituted as directed, each 5ml of constituted suspension contains: 

  • Amoxicillin Trihydrate BP equivalent to Amoxicillin 200mg/250mg / 125mg/400 mg. 
  • Diluted Potassium Clavulanate BP equivalent to Clavulanic Acid 28.5mg/62.5mg/31.25mg/57 mg.

 INDICATIONS

Amoxicillin and Clavulanate is indicated for the short-term treatment of common bacterial infections such as, Upper Respiratory Tract Infections (including ENT) e.g. Tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media. Lower Respiratory Tract Infection, e.g. acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and broncho-pneumonia, Genito-urinary Tract Infections e.g. Cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, female genital infections. Skin and Soft Tissue Infection.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE ADULTS

1 Lyclav 625mg Tablet every 12 hrs. Or 1 Lyclav 375 mg tablet every 8 hrs. For more severe infection and infections of respiratory tract, the dose should be 1 Lyclav 1000 mg tablet every 12 hrs or 1 Lyclav 625 mg tablet every 8 hrs. Lyclav 1125 mg tablet for every 12 hrs. 

CHILDREN

  • 2-6 years (13-21kg): 5ml Lyclav Suspension twice daily. 
  • 7-12 years (22-40kg): 10ml Lyclav Suspension twice daily. Or as directed by the Physician.

 CONTRAINDICATIONS

In patients with a history of hypersensitivity to beta- lactams, e.g. penicillin and cephalosporins.

It is contraindicated in patients with a previous history of Amoxicillin and Clavulanate associated jaundice/hepatic dysfunction.

Blood and lymphatic system disorders, Immune system disorders, Nervous system disorders Vascular disorders.

PRECAUTIONS/WARNINGS

Amoxicillin and Clavulanate should be given with caution to patients with infectious mononucleosis or lymphatic leukemia since they are especially susceptible to amoxicillin induced skin rashes.

In patients with moderate or severe renal impairment dosage should be adjusted as recommended in the dosage and Administration section.

Changes in liver function tests have been observed in some patients receiving Amoxicillin and Clavulanate. Cholestatic hepatitis, which may be severe but is usually reversible has been reported. Signs and symptoms usually occur during or shortly after treatment but in some cases may not become apparent until several weeks after treatment has ceased. In most cases resolution has occurred with time. However, in extremely rare circumstances, deaths have been reported. These have almost always been cases associated with serious underlying disease of concomitant medications. Amoxicillin and Clavulanate should be used with care in patients with evidence of hepatic dysfunction.
