💊 COMPOSITION
Each Hard Gelatin Capsule contains:
• Omeprazole BP – 20 mg (as enteric coated pellets)
• Excipients – q.S.
• Approved colors used in empty hard gelatin capsule
⚙️ PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Omeprazole capsule contains the active substance omeprazole, which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).
They work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces.
📌 INDICATIONS
Omeprazole Capsules are indicated in the treatment of:
• Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD)
• Ulcers in the upper part of the intestine (duodenal ulcer) or stomach (gastric ulcer)
• Prevention of relapse of gastric ulcers
• Treatment of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers
• Prevention of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers in patients at risk
• Long-term management of patients with healed reflux oesophagitis
• Treatment of symptomatic gastro-oesophageal reflux disease
• Treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
📏 DOSAGE
• 1 or 2 capsules per day before meals or according to medical prescriptions
• The capsule must not be crushed or opened
🚫 CONTRAINDICATIONS
• Hypersensitivity to omeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or any of the excipients
• Must not be used concomitantly with nelfinavir.
🤰 PREGNANCY AND LACTATION
• No adverse effects reported in three prospective epidemiological studies
• Can be used during pregnancy
• Excreted in breast milk but unlikely to influence the child when therapeutic doses are used.
⚠️ SIDE EFFECTS
Most common side effects include:
• Headache
• Abdominal pain
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Flatulence
• Nausea/Vomiting
• Hypersensitivity reactions: fever, angioedema, anaphylactic reaction/shock
