1.WHATLETAMOX CHEWABLE IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR
What is LETAMOX Chewable?
LETAMOX Chewable contains the active substance mebendazole. It is a medicine used in the treatment of worm infections of the gut. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'anthelmintics".
What is it used for?
LETAMOX Chewable is used to treat adults and children of 2 years of age and above with worm infections of the gut caused by roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms, pinworms.
2. BEFORE YOU TAKE LETAMOX CHEWABLE
Do not take LETAMOX Chewable
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to mebendazole, or other ingredients of LETAMOX Chewable.
- Do not give LETAMOX Chewable to children under 2 years of age.
Warnings and precautions
Take special care with LETAMOX Chewable
- Fits (convulsions seizures) have been reported in infants below the age of 1 year.
- For long-term therapy, the blood count and liver and kidney function tests should be checked regularly.
Taking other medicines
LETAMOX Chewable might interact with other medicines. Please tell your health
care provider if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines,
including medicines obtained without a prescription.
LETAMOX Chewable is not recommended to be taken with metronidazole (a drug used to treat bacterial and protozoan infections) as a serious skin reaction can rarely occur.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Not recommended for pregnant women. Your health care provider will decide whether you are allowed to take LETAMOX Chewable while you are breast-feeding.
Driving and using machines
This medicine is unlikely to affect your alertness or ability to drive.
Important information about some of the ingredients in Letamox
Letamox contains lactose, nipagin and nipasol blend, talk to your doctor if you are reactive to any of these.
If you forget to take Letamox. In worm eradication programs, where more than a single dose is prescribed, do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet. Take it as soon as you remember if not close to next dose or wait for next dose and continue regimen dose.
3. HOW TO TAKE LETAMOX CHEWABLE
Always use LETAMOX Chewable exactly as your health care provider has told you.
You must check with your health care provider if you are not sure.
Taking this medicine:
- Take this medicine by mouth.
- This medicine is a single-tablet dose.
- The tablet must be chewed completely before swallowing.
If you take more LETAMOX Chewable than you should
Talk to a health care provider immediately. Take the medicine and this leaflet with you. You might suffer from symptoms that include stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
If you have any further questions on the use of the product, ask your health care provider.
If you stop taking letamox
If you have any questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or health care provider.
4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines, LETAMOX CHEWABLE can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Tell your health care provider immediately if you notice or suspect the following serious side effects. You may need urgent medical.

Fits (seizures/convulsions)
Severe allergic reaction that may include:
- A swollen face, lips, mouth, tongue, or throat.
- Difficulty swallowing or breathing.
- Itchy rash (hives).
- Life-threatening rash with blister and peeling skin over much of the body toxic epidermal necrolysis).
- Severe rash with blister and peeling skin, particularly around the mouth, nose, eyes and genitals (Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
Other side effects
- Loss of appetite
- Stomach pain
- Diarrhea
- Feeling dizzy
- Passing gas
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Low number of a type of white blood cell (neutrophils)
- Inflamed liver
- Changes that show up in blood test of the liver Inflammation of the kidney
- Skin rash over a wide area
- Hives
- Hair loss
Reporting of side effects
If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. You can also report side effects directly to the FDA through the med safe app. Download the app on Google play store or apple store.
5.HOW TO STORE LETAMOX CHEWABLE
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
- Do not store above 30°C. Keep container tightly closed.
- Do not use after the expiry date which is stated on the label or on carton box or stated on the aluminum blister foil. The expiry date refers to the last date of that month.
- Do not use Letamox if you notice visible signs of deterioration.
- Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
6. FURTHER INFORMATION
What LETAMOX Chewable contains:
- The active substance is mebendazole. Each tablet contains 500mg of mebendazole.
- The other ingredients are lactose, starch, color and flavor, talc, Magnesium stearate, sucralose, nipagin nipasol blend, tween 80. Banana flavor contains banana flavor and color tartrazine supra.
- Mango flavor contains mango flavor and color tartrazine supra and Erythrosine.
- Orange flavor contains orange flavor and F.D.C yellow no 6, granular.
- Pineapple flavor contains sweet pineapple flavor and F.D. C yellow no 6. granular and tartrazine supra
What LETAMOX Chewable looks like and contents of the pack
Chewable tablet: round, standard concave tablet, it is embossed with "Meben" over "500" on one side and "LETAP" on the other side. 1 tablet in one single pack and 20 in one outer pack.
