ACTIONS: Zincovit is an advanced formula of high concentration of 10 vitamins and 5 essential minerals including zinc for therapeutic use.
Recent medical studies reveal that of late mineral deficiency, especially of zinc has acquired such alarming dimensions that we can no longer afford to ignore it. Zincovit provides Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate 63 mg equivalent to 22.5 mg of elemental Zinc. Zinc is essential for boosting up immunity, proper growth of foetus, DNA, RNA Synthesis and protein synthesis and reduced antibody response. Zincovit provides sufficient dosage of all vitamins and minerals to correct these deficiency states.
INDICATIONS: Zincovit is recommended (i) As therapeutic agent during growth, Pregnancy and Surgery. (ii) For conditions due to vitamin and zinc deficiency states like Phrynoderma, Acrodermatitis enteropathica, Folliculitis. (iii) As an adjuvant to antibiotic therapy and anti-diabetics.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Vitamin B6 reduces the effects of levodopa, and this product should not be administered to patients receiving levodopa medication.
WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS: Zincovit should be used as a vitamin and mineral source in conjunction with an energy-providing diet suitable for individual patient requirements. No other vitamins, minerals or products with or without vitamin A should be taken with this preparation except under medical supervision. Do not exceed the stated dose. Zincovit should be used with caution in patients with chronic liver disease and in patients with hyperlipidemia. Vitamin D should be used with caution in patients with hypercalcemia. Increased sensitivity to Vitamin D is observed in patients with renal impairment and having an abnormal calcium/phosphorus ratio.
SIDE EFFECTS: Zincovit is well tolerated in recommended doses. Some patients may experience mild central stimulant side effects. Vitamin B6 reduces the effects of levodopa. Concurrent zinc administration might diminish the effect of penicillamine.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: Women who are or might become Pregnant should avoid taking daily dose containing more than 5000 IU Vitamin A, without consulting a medical practitioner. Caution should be used in pregnancy as excessive doses of Vitamin A may be teratogenic, especially when taken in the first trimester. Large doses of Vitamin D in lactating mothers may cause hypercalcemia in infants.
DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS: The effects of Vitamin D may be reduced in patients taking barbiturates or anti-convulsant due to accelerated metabolism of Vitamin D. Zinc Sulfate reduce the absorption of tetracyclines.
DOSAGE: One tablet daily or as directed by the Physician.
OVERDOSAGE: Symptoms of over dosage may include anorexia, nausea, vomiting, rough dry skin, polyuria, thirst, loss of hair, painful bones and joints as well as raised plasma and urine calcium and Phosphate concentration.
