COMPOSITION: Each 5ml contains: Paracetamol BP 120mg Excipients: sucrose, sodium methyl paraben, propyl methyl paraben, sodium citrate, citric acid, propylene glycol, banana flavour.
INDICATIONS: GR-PARA is indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain, headaches, colds, quick relief from teething pains, ear and tooth ache and muscle pain. GR-PARA offers relief from feverish conditions in children and infants; pain associated with immunization and other conditions.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION: 3 months–1 year: 2.5 ml 3–4 times daily. 1–6 years: 5 ml 3–4 times daily. 6–12 years: 10 ml 3–4 times daily. Or as prescribed by physician. GR-PARA can be given even during or after meals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS, WARNING & PRECAUTIONS: GR-PARA is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive or allergic to paracetamol and any excipients used in formulation. Care is advised in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. If pain or fever persists for more than 48 hours, consult a physician.
PREGNANCY AND LACTATION: GR-PARA syrup is for children and infants, not suitable for pregnant and lactating mothers.
UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS: Side effects are rare and are usually mild at recommended doses.
OVERDOSAGE AND ITS TREATMENT: Early symptoms of overdose may include nausea, abdominal pain, sweating and liver failure. Seek immediate medical attention if a dose more than what is recommended is taken, even if symptoms are not present.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Do not take any other paracetamol-containing medicines when taking GR-PARAP syrup due to the risk of liver toxicity.
PHARMACOKINETICS: Oral absorption is rapid and almost complete. It may be decreased if paracetamol is taken following a high carbohydrate meal. There is no significant binding to plasma proteins with low or toxic doses. Approximately 90–95% of a dose is metabolised in the liver, primarily by conjugation, which may accumulate in overdose or dosage after primary metabolic pathways become saturated. Half-life is 1 to 4 hours duration of action, 3–4 hours. In acute over dosage, half-life may be prolonged. In the elderly and in neonates, the rate of elimination is somewhat slower. Normal peak plasma concentrations, 10–20 mg/ml, are unchanged.
STORAGE: Store in a dry place below 30°C. Protected from light.
PRESENTATION: Each amber-coloured bottle packed in a jacket along with pack insert and 10 ml measuring cup.
